PUNXSUTAWNEY — Braxton Amundson’s friends and family now know the $10,000 secret he has been keeping for more than three months.

As those who watched the PAHS graduate on “The Price is Right” Monday morning now know, Amundson — son of Eric and Vickie Amundson — had a chance to win $10,000 after he had the closest bid on a set of women’s cosmetic products — which he also won.

As a contestant this past August on the show, Amundson had to correctly guess which four of six products presented were under $2.

With help from the audience and his mother, he correctly guessed the four products and won the $10,000 prize.

He was able to keep his winnings a secret because he didn’t tell many people he was featured on the show until two weeks ago.

Amundson said he already knows how he will spend his money: $1,000 will go to the CMA church; $500 to Penn State’s THON charity; $4,000 to savings and investments; $1,000 to his father; $800 to taxes; and the remaining $2,700 will be spent on “fresh swag apparel.”

He said he plans on giving the cosmetic products to his female friends and family.

Amundson enjoyed watching the show Monday with friends and family, saying, “It was the best moment of my life relived.”

He is once again feeling his “mini-celebrity” status, as he has been responding to texts and Facebook posts “non-stop” since the show aired.
Friends of Amundson poked fun at him for bidding $1 over fellow contestant Victoria’s bid on the cosmetic products.

“I did feel bad, because when I watch the show at home, I don’t like when people do it, but now, I see how it’s necessary,” he said.

Amundson said it was so noisy when he was on the show, that it was hard to concentrate.

“After being on the show, I can understand why people do those bad bids,” he said.

On winning the $10,000, Amundson said his level of swag “has nearly tripled.”
