PERRY TOWNSHIP — A Punxsutawney man suffered major injuries in a one-vehicle accident that occurred at 1:10 a.m. Saturday on Route 536, Perry Township, according to Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by Huston K. Yeaney, 25, Punxsutawney, was traveling west on Route 536 when the crash occurred.

Police said Yeaney was driving too fast on the wet roads while negotiating a left curve when he drove onto the shoulder of the road.
According to police, when Yeaney drove onto the shoulder, it caused the vehicle to spin counterclockwise and roll over.

Police said Yeaney's vehicle struck a PennDOT sign when it rolled over and came to rest on its wheels.

Yeaney was ejected from the vehicle through the driver's side window as the vehicle rolled over, police said.

According to police, Yeaney's vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by South Side Service.

Police said Yeaney was to be charged with careless driving.

Yeaney was transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital by Jefferson County EMS.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Company and the Lindsey Fire Company.

The limestone material that was recently used to rebuild the shoulder of the road was spread across both lanes of the highway following the accident.
