Punxsy man injured in motor scooter accident

PUNXSUTAWNEY — A Punxsutawney man sustained abdominal injuries when his motor scooter crashed into the guardrail at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on Chestnut Street.

According to Punxsutawney Borough Police, George Grist of Punxsutawney was traveling on Chestnut Street when he apparently lost control of his scooter and struck a guardrail.

Police said the scooter ran along the guardrail a few feet before coming to rest.

According to police, Grist was transported by Jefferson County EMS to Punxsutawney Area Hospital and was flown by STAT MedEvac to an area trauma center with abdominal injuries.

Police were assisted at the scene by Central Fire Department and Rebuck's South Side Service.
