HYDE — John J. Fisher Post 62 of Punxsutawney finished the Jefferson County American Legion regular season strong and is prepared for the postseason following a 10-1 victory Thursday night at Clearfield.

Punxsy scored during every inning but one and received solid pitching from Braedon Pennington and Jamie Bush to complete the regular season on a five-game winning streak.

Punxsy's last regular season game was scheduled for tonight, but Reynoldsville forfeited the rest of its season, giving Punxsy a final record of 12-4.

Punxsy will enter the playoffs as the No. 2 seed and will host No. 3 Clearfield (12-13-1) at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rich Kuntz Memorial Field.

On the other half of the bracket, top-seeded DuBois will host No. 4 Brookville at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Showers' Field.

Punxsy handed DuBois its only loss of the season last Tuesday.

The winners and losers of Tuesday's games will play at 5:30 p.m. next Thursday. The rest of the tournament will take place next Saturday and Sunday, and if necessary, Tuesday, July 12.

Every playoff game will be nine innings. The tournament is double-elimination, with the higher seed always serving as the home team.

Thursday night, Punxsy never trailed. Punxsy was ahead 5-1 through three innings before it scored two runs apiece during the fifth and seventh innings.

Pennington, a 2010 PAHS graduate, threw five innings of one-run ball. He allowed five hits with four strikeouts and one walk.

Bush pitched two scoreless innings in relief. He surrendered one hit and struck out four.

Devan Neal managed Punxsy's only multi-hit game. He hit a two-run home run and singled.

Pennington bashed a solo homer, and Tyler Skerkavich ripped a two-run double and was walked twice.

Zak Dickey also drew three walks, singled and scored a team-high three runs.

Punxsy manager Mike Dickey said his team is prepared for the playoffs.

"We're definitely looking forward to the playoffs," he said. "We're going to turn it up a notch."

Dickey is also excited about how the rotation will fill out.

It features left-handers Pennington, Bush and Brodi Lowmaster and righties Joe Pisano and Taylor Neal.

"I think we're pretty happy with where we are. People are starting to hit," he said. "Our pitching is going to line up well."
