Punxsy Dash 4 Diabetes to contribute to local cause for fifth straight year

May 28, 2013

The "Punxsy Dash 4 Diabetes" was created in honor of 13-year-old Lexi Zanaglio, an 8th-grader at PAHS who has Type 1 diabetes.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — This year marks the 5th anniversary of the Punxsy Dash 4 Diabetes 5K Run/1-Mile Walk.

The event will be held on Saturday at the Charles Barletta Skate Park — also known as "Punxsy Skate Park" — located off Elk Street.

Parking will be available at the Jefferson County Assistance Office.

Runners and walkers will start at the Skate Park and then travel down the Punxsy Rails-to-Trails course and back.

Registration and activities will begin at 10 a.m., with the run/walk event starting at 11 a.m.

Those wishing to participate may register on the day of the event.

The cost is $15 to walk and $20 to run.

The 5K race features availability for runners of all ages.

After the 5K run/walk, a kids’ fun run will be held for those ages 12 and under.

There is no cost for kids to participate in the fun run.

The event will also have free face painting and a kids’ zone.

All proceeds from the event will go to the American Diabetes Association.
