PUNXSUTAWNEY — Punxsutawney Borough Council voted at Monday's meeting not to accept PennDOT's traffic signal agreement for the new Margiotti Bridge.

Punxsutawney Borough Manager Ben White said that borough council was presented with Resolution 2014-6, a traffic signal agreement with PennDOT to accept responsibility for the proposed traffic signal once it is installed as part of the Margiotti Bridge replacement project.

Eric Story, chairman of Public Safety, said that they've met with PennDOT officials at least three times, including two meetings at the CMA Church, and told PennDOT representatives that borough officials do not want a traffic light at that intersection, because it would cause a major traffic tie-up, which could potentially back up into town.

"Those meetings were a total waste of my time,” Story said.
