PSP responds, promises sufficient manpower for Groundhog Day detail

January 10, 2013

PUNXSUTAWNEY — In regards to the report that Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) would not be providing security detail for Groundhog Day, Maria Finn, press secretary for the Office of the Commissioner of Homeland Security, PSP, would like to clarify that PSP will have a presence at the event.

“We are very concerned that the story leads readers to believe that the state police will not be providing coverage (for Groundhog Day), which is absolutely not true ... PSP will be providing sufficient manpower and will offer additional PSP resources if circumstances dictate a greater law enforcement response. The citizens of the Commonwealth are of the utmost importance to the Pennsylvania State Police, and we are com-
mitted to providing assets when needed.”
