BROOKVILLE â€” Tonya S. Geist has announced that the Jefferson County Prothonotary & Clerk of Courts Office will be hosting a special passport event this Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 200 Main St., Brookville.
â€śThe fair is to provide passport information to the citizens and to accept passport applications for persons who may not be accommodated during regular business hours,â€ť Geist said.
U.S. citizens must present a valid passport book when entering or re-entering the United States by air.
U.S. citizens entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land borders and sea ports of entry must present a passport book, passport card or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government.
Information on the cost of how to apply for a U.S. passport is available at travel.state.gov.
U.S. citizens may also obtain passport information by phone, in English and Spanish, by calling the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 1-877-487-2778.
Interested applicants should bring their birth certificates, driversâ€™ licences and two forms of payment.
Birth certificates must have motherâ€™s and fatherâ€™s full names.
If you do not have the acceptable form of the birth certificate, visit www.health.state.pa.us/vitalrecords and order a long form birth certificate today.
Download a passport application at www.travel.state.gov, or fill out an application at the fair.
The postage fee will be waived for all regular applications on Passport Fair day.
