The new lifeguard chairs at the George C. Brown Community Pool were dedicated on Saturday, which was opening day for the pool.

Lisa Switlick, of SPLASH, said Pam Boyer wanted to memorialize her son Philip, a former lifeguard who loved the pool.

She said they've wanted new lifeguard chairs, and the Boyers raised enough money for three new chairs, umbrellas for the chairs and new rescue tubes.

The chairs were dedicated in a ceremony hosted by Punxsutawney Mayor Richard Alexander.

Pictured are Gage Ritchey (from left), Audrey Johnson — the first swimmer in the pool this year — and Greg Moore enjoying the beautiful swimming weather.

Switlick said the pool is open from noon to 6 p.m. every day, except Thursday, when it is open from noon to 8 p.m.
