Police: Two die in separate wrecks

April 19, 2013

FALLS CREEK & WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — A 31-year-old Reynoldsville man and a 59-year-old Howard man died Thursday and Friday in two separate Jefferson County wrecks, according to DuBois-based Pennsylvania State Police.

Douglas M. Horner, 31, Reynoldsville, was traveling westbound on Route 950 at a high rate of speed at 5:38 p.m. Thursday, while Betty E. Pasierb, 80, Falls Creek, was eastbound.

Police said Pasierb failed to see Horner's 2011 Yamaha motorcycle approaching, and she attempted to make a left turn onto 6th Street.

The motorcycle then struck the right side of Pasierb's 2000 GMC Jimmy.

Police said Horner, who died, was wearing a motorcycle helmet. Pasierb and her passenger, Anna Arble, 93, Falls Creek, were wearing their seatbelts and were not injured.

The road was closed for approximately four hours, and the Falls Creek Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

At 6:18 a.m. Friday, police said Wayne McClosky, 59, Howard, was traveling west along I-80 in Washington Township when his 2005 GMC truck with a day cab and tilt bed traveled off the north side of the road,
impacting a sign and a guiderail, before traveling down a steep embankment toward Moore Road.

The vehicle came to a controlled final rest on Moore Road, facing west.

Police said McClosky was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Falls Creek and Reynoldsville volunteer fire departments assisted at the scene.
