July 10, 2014

CANOE TOWNSHIP — Punxsutawney-based Pa. State Police are searching for information regarding a cruelty to animals case that led to a missing cat being put to sleep.

Sometime between June 28 and July 2, the cat went missing from Central Street in Canoe Township, Indiana County.

July 2, the cat returned to its owner with a noticeable limp, and a hole was discovered near the cat's limb.

Upon further investigation by a veterinarian, it was determined that the cat was shot with a small-caliber firearm.

Due to extensive internal injuries, the cat had to be put to sleep, police said.
