PUNXSUTAWNEY — Police have named a suspect who faces charges of criminal attempted homicide in the Thursday evening shooting of two Punxsy men.
Friday, Punxsutawney Borough Police Chief Tom Fedigan said his department and Pennsylvania State Police Troop C’s Major Case Team are investigating the shooting that occurred around 9:30 p.m. Thursday along Cranberry Alley.
In his statement, Fedigan said Christopher Lawrence Thornhill, 24, who has Pittsburgh as his last known address, shot the two Punxsy men multiple times.
After the shooting, Thornhill reportedly fled the scene in an unknown direction driving a Chevrolet Blazer described as tan, brown or gold, bearing Pennsylvania registration HWC-4537, police said.
Thornhill is described as a black male; short black hair; brown eyes; approximately 5-foot, 8-inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds.
After the shooting, the victims — who were not named — were transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital then flown to a Pittsburgh trauma center where they are currently being treated, police said.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Thornhill after being charged with two counts of each: Criminal attempted homicide; aggravated assault; recklessly endangering another; and weapons violations.
Thornhill should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone who has information regarding this incident should contact the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department at 938-6220 or Pennsylvania State Police at 938-0510.
