July 21, 2011

FALLS CREEK — The person who police said struck a jogging Falls Creek woman and fled the scene Tuesday evening has been apprehended and placed in jail.

Wednesday, DuBois-based Pennsylvania State Police reported the arrest of Felicia Marie Steele, 48, Reynoldsville, after the incident occurred around 8:04 p.m. Tuesday on Route 950, about a mile south of Falls Creek, Washington Township.

Police said the jogger, Cindi A. Lingenfelter, 32, Falls Creek, was jogging south on Route 950 and was struck by Steele’s southbound 2003 GMC Sierra pick-up. Police said Steele then fled the scene.

PSP-DuBois updated its Tuesday report to indicate that Lingenfelter suffered severe injuries. She was flown via medical helicopter to Altoona Hospital for treatment.

Police said the investigation developed evidence at the scene, and troopers then located Steele, who was taken into custody, charged with felony and misdemeanor charges and committed to the Jefferson County jail.
