Phyllis M. Hoover-Russert, 80, Mayport, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Lane Avenue Personal Care Home.
She was born Sept. 21, 1930, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Cyrus F. and Anna Mae (Miller) Gahagen.
She was married to Charles Ray Hoover, who preceded her in death. She then married George T. Russert Jr., who also preceded her in death.
Ms. Hoover-Russert was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Trade City and also a member of the Mahoning Grange in Trade City. She was also a long-time employee at the former Farmers & Miners Bank and S&T Bank.
She loved reading and shopping, but most of all, she loved time with her grandchildren and family.
Surviving relatives include three sons, Robert R. Hoover and wife Barbara of Trade City, William T. Hoover and wife Carol of Smicksburg, and Bradley L. Hoover and wife Debra of Mayport; seven grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Myron Gahagen, Raymond Gahagen, Kenneth Gahagen and an infant brother.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Maureen Seifried officiating.
Donations may be made in Ms. Hoover-Russertâ€™s name to the American Cancer Society or the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Trade City.
