A group of 14 visitors from the Alle-Kiski Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (PASR) came to Punxsutawney on Tuesday to learn more about the town and its legendary weather forecaster.

After their arrival at the Civic Center, the tourists heard some interesting stories of local history from Tom Curry.

Tour guides Terry and Charlotte Fye had arranged for Ron Ploucha, Phil's co-handler, to stop by and greet the guests.

Following Ploucha's lively and informative speech about Phil and Groundhog Day, everyone posed for a photo with the world's most famous
prognosticator.

Next on the agenda were stops in Barclay Square, a look at the colorful paintings on the dike walls, a trek to Gobbler's Knob, and lunch at Mary's Place.

The day ended with a visit to the downtown area and browsing at the official Souvenir Shop.

The travelers were unanimous in their praise of the community and the hospitality they had received.
