Pete Harvath, 76

Pete Harvath, 76, Ellenboro, N.C., died Thursday, August 18, 2011, at his residence after an extended illness.

He was born May 1, 1935, in Indiana County, a son of the late Adam and Mary (Vascovich) Horvath.

He graduated from Clymer High School in 1955, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Harvath worked in manufacturing many years for Greensteel-Korok in Dixonville, and in the coal mining industry for Pennsylvania Power and Light/Greenwich Collieries of Ebensburg.

He was a member of St. Michael’s Greek Orthodox Catholic Church of Clymer.

Surviving relatives include his wife of 49 years, Mary Hauck Harvath; two sons, Edward Harvath and wife, Sherry of Bloomingdale, Ga., and Harry Harvath and wife, Terri of Mahaffey; a daughter,Margaret Harvath Mitchell and husband, David of Mooresboro, N.C.; a brother, Michael Harvath of Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Susan Korson and family of River Vale, N.J.; his mother in-law, Margaret Hauck of Ellenboro; and a brother in-law, Walter Hauck of Grampian; six grandchildren, Bethany Harvath, Kyle Harvath, Cherianne Harvath, Jessica Harvath, Jesse Mitchell and Jennalea Mitchell; and two step-grandchildren, Kegan Ransom and Cortney Ransom.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.

Private services honoring Mr. Harvath's life will take place at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Harrelson Funeral Home, Forest City, N.C.
