Paul R. Pounds Sr., 88, of Marion Center, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at St. Andrew’s Village in Indiana.

He was born March 18, 1923, in Marion Center, a son of the late William and Alice (Feight) Pounds.

He married his wife, the former Betty J. Mock, Jan. 23, 1943, and their 69th wedding anniversary occurred the day of Betty’s death just a few weeks ago Jan 23, 2012.

Mr. Pounds was a graduate of Marion Center High School, then attended Vale Tech for two years.

He served as a medical tech in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Pounds was employed as the body shop foreman with McGill Motors for 30 years. His working career included a job with Season-All Industries. He was also self-employed as the owner of Pounds Body Shop in Marion Center until 2005.

Surviving relatives include three children, Paula Dilts and husband Bob of Georgeville, Pamela Conner and husband Larry of Cherry Tree, and Paul “Bo” Pounds, Jr. of Indiana; three grandchildren, Robert Dilts, Jr. and wife Connie, Heather Zielmanski and husband Kevin, and Bethany Cassidy and husband Chance; three great grandchildren, Cenneca and Zane Dilts and Teegan Taylor Cassidy; a brother, Bob Pounds and wife Doris of Austintown, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Pounds; three brothers, Bill, Clover and Frank Pounds; and three sisters, Margie Fairman, Catherine Nagy and Edda Niel.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at the Rairigh Funeral Home Ltd., Hillsdale.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Stephen C. Bond officiating.

Private family interment will be at the Marion Center Memorial Cemetery.
