Paul Edward Montgomery, 84, Punxsutawney, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 30, 2012.
He was born Oct. 16, 1927, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late William H. and Edith (Ely) Montgomery.
Mr. Montgomery was employed for numerous years by Currys Supply Depot, located near Pittsburgh.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Montgomery resided in Pittsburgh for most of his life and was an avid sports fan of the Pirates and Penguins.
He enjoyed volunteering at food banks, gardening and meeting new people.
In his younger years, he was an avid roller skater who won various speed-skating awards from 1950-1956.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Cathy Hillman and her son Gregory of Pittsburgh; and a sister, Marlene Jacob, also of Pittsburgh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Maxine (Spence) Montgomery; and two brothers, Harry and Wilber.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana, with a funeral service immediately following at 8 p.m. in the Lefdahl Chapel.
Interment will be at the Allegheny County Memorial Park in Pittsburgh and will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
