PAHS to crown Winter Queen, Princess Friday

PUNXSUTAWNEY – Dec. 22, the PAHS senior class chose six senior girls to represent the 2012 Winter Formal Queen’s Court.

This year’s court includes Tori Brooks, Cassandra Cook, Kaitlyn Cressley, Randa Depp, Sydney Jekielek and Samantha Winebark.

The senior girl with the highest number of votes will reign as queen, and the senior girl with the second highest number of votes will reign as princess after the official crowning during halftime of the boys’ basketball game Friday against Bradford.

• Tori Brooks, daughter of Darian and Julie Brooks of Punxsutawney, is enrolled in the academic curriculum.

During high school, Brooks has participated in Ski Club in grades nine through 12; Science Club and Math Club in grades 10 through 12; Future Health Services Club and Spanish Club in grades nine through 11;
National Honor Society as vice-president; Powderpuff in grades 11 and 12; and Special Olympics Helper in grades 10 through 12.

Her special honors and recognitions include Career Woman’s Girl of the Month in January 2012 and Student of the Month in grade 10.

Brooks is employed at County Market, and her post-graduation plans include attending Saint Francis University to become a physician’s assistant.

• Cassandra Cook, daughter of Karen Cook and Mike Cook of Punxsutawney, is enrolled in the academic curriculum.

During high school, Cook has participated in volleyball in grades nine through 12, as a co-captain in 12; Varsity Club and intramurals in grade 12; Powderpuff in grades 11 and 12; Bible Club in grade 12; Gifted in grades nine through 12; Key Club in grade 10; Junior Olympics Volleyball in grades 10 through 12; Special Olympics volunteer; volunteer middle school volleyball coach in grades 11 and 12; and AmeriCorps Youth Program in grade 12.

Cook’s special honors and recognitions include Student of the Month in grade 10; perfect attendance in grade 11; National Honor Society in grades 11 and 12, serving as president in grade 12; volleyball letter-winner in grades 10 through 12; and high honor roll in grades nine through 12.

She attends the First Church of God in Punxsutawney, and her post-graduation plans include attending the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown to major in secondary English education.

Tyler Presloid will be her escort.

• Kaitlyn Cressley, daughter of Scott and Tabatha Cressley of Rochester Mills, is enrolled in the academic curriculum.

During high school, Cressley has participated in softball and volleyball in grades nine through 12; Bible Club in grades 10 through 12, serving as president in grade 12 and treasurer in grade 11; Key Club in grade 10; Science Club in grade 11; National Honor Society in grades 11 and 12; Camp Friendship counselor and photographer; and Student Government and AmeriCorps in grade 12.

Her special honors and recognitions include Student of the Month and PRIDE student, both in grade 11.

Cressley attends the First Church of God, where she is the student leader for the youth group and helps with the children’s ministry.
Her post-graduation plans include attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania to major in elementary and special education.

Luke Spack will be her escort.

• Randa Depp, daughter of Mark and Toni Depp of Hamilton, is enrolled in the general curriculum.

During high school, she has participated in basketball in grades nine through 10 and softball in grades nine through 12.

Her post-graduation plans include attending Clarion University to major in early childhood education/special education.

Jesse Reinhart will be her escort.

• Sydney Jekielek, daughter of Paul and Kathryn Jekielek, is enrolled in the academic curriculum.

During high school, she has participated in Ski Club in grades nine through 12; tennis in grades 11 and 12; indoor track in grades nine through 10; Spanish Club and Art Club in grades nine through 11; and Powderpuff in grades 11 and 12.

Her special honor and recognitions include being named to the honor roll.

Jekielek’s post-graduation plans are to attend University of Pittburgh at Bradford to major in nursing.

Samantha Winebark, daughter of Beth and George Winebark of Rochester Mills, is enrolled in the academic curriculum.

During high school, Winebark has participated in National Honor Society in grades 11 and 12; Agriculture Club in grades 10 through 12, office helper, 4-H and Phil Dancer in grade 12; volleyball statistician in grade 11; and cheerleading in grades nine through 10.

Her special honors and recognitions include People to People Student Ambassador; Student of the Month in grade nine; and being named to the high honor roll in grades nine through 12. She is also employed at Rite-Aid.

Winebark’s post-graduation plans include attending Shippensburg University to major in pre-optometry.
