PAHS to crown Homecoming royalty during Friday’s game against A-C Valley

PUNXSUTAWNEY — The senior class at PAHS chose six senior girls to be on the Homecoming Queen's Court.

This year’s court includes Chelsea Engeholm, Sydney Weaver, Caroline Dunkel, Mary Sloniger, Alexa Shaffer and Sydney Dubensky.

The senior girl with the highest number of votes will be crowned queen, and the girl with the second highest number of votes will be crowned princess at Friday’s Homecoming football game against A-C Valley.

Chelsea Ann Engeholm is the daughter of Ron and Janet Engeholm of Punxsutawney. She is enrolled in the academic curriculum at PAHS.

During high school, Engeholm has participated in volleyball in grades 9-12; basketball, 9; wrestling, 10; softball, 9-12; Varsity Club, 11-12; class officer, 10; and Powder Puff, 11-12.

Her special honors and recognitions include Student of the Month in grade 10, being on the honor roll, being a volleyball co-captain and Punxsutawney Spirit Spring Sports Outstanding Player in grade 11.

Outside of school, Engeholm attends Rossiter United Methodist Church and works at Neko’s Restaurant and Lounge. Her post-graduation plans include attending a two-year college to become an X-ray technician and play college softball. Her escort will be Jesse Reichard.

Sydney Jean Weaver is the daughter of Sean and Alicia Weaver of Punxsutawney. She is enrolled in the academic curriculum at PAHS.

During high school, Weaver has participated in class officers in grades 10-12; Spanish Club, 11-12; volleyball, 9-12; softball, 10; Special Olympics helper, 12; Junior Olympic Moose volleyball, 9, 11 and 12; YMCA and church league volleyball, 10-12; Ski Club, 9-12; Powder Puff Football, 11-12; and Mock Crash 11.

Her special honors and recognitions include being on the high honor roll, Student of the Month, grade 9; volleyball most-improved JV player, 10; volleyball most valuable varsity player, 11; and Volleyball letter winner, 10-12.

Outside of school, Weaver attends Church of the Resurrection in Rossiter.

Her post graduation plans include attending college to major in business
and financing or real estate. Ty Zimmerman will be her escort.

Caroline Aubrey Dunkel is the daughter of Thomas and Kimberly Dunkel of Punxsutawney. She is enrolled in the academic curriculum at PAHS.

During high school, Dunkel has participated in Ski Club in grades 9-12; girls' golf, 9-12; student government, 12; Science Club, 10-12; Bible Club, 11-12; Dramatics Club, 10-12; Varsity Club, 10-12; Key Club, 11-12; Spanish Club, 11-12; and Special Olympics helper, 10-11.

Her special honors and recognitions include Student of the Month in grade 9; VFW Americanism Award; PRIDE, grade 11; Who’s Who Among American High School Students National Language Award; and National Society of High School Scholars.

Her post graduation plans include attending Clarion University to major in secondary education. Michael Blose will be her escort.

Mary Christine Sloniger is the daughter of Jim and Sandy Sloniger of Punxsutawney. She is enrolled in the academic curriculum at PAHS.

During high school, Sloniger has participated in volleyball in grade 9; basketball, 9-10; softball, 9-12; Spanish Club, 10-12; Science Club; 11-12; Camp Friendship counselor; PACC elementary basketball volunteer; SS.C.D. Bible school volunteer; Little League umpire; and Powder Puff Football, 11-12.

Her special honors and recognitions include Student of the Month in grade 10; high honor roll, 9-12; and Rotary Youth Leadership Award grade 12.

Outside of school, Sloniger attends SS.C.D. Church. Her post-graduation plans include attending Clarion University to major in early childhood/special education. Pat Defelice will be her escort.

Alexa Jade Shaffer is the daughter of Douglas Shaffer of Punxsutawney. She is enrolled in the academic curriculum at PAHS.

During high school, Shaffer has participated in Math Club in grades 10-12, Math Team, 11-12; Key Club, 10-12; Show Choir, 10-12; NHS, 11-12; Spanish Club, 10-12; and Powder Puff Football, 11-12.

Her special honors and recognitions include being on the high honor roll and Student of the Month in grade 9.

Outside of school, Shaffer attends SS.C.D. Church. John Sproull will be her escort.

Sydney Lynn Dubensky is the daughter of Steven and Missy Dubensky of Punxsutawney. She is enrolled in the academic curriculum at PAHS.

During high school, Dubensky has participated in soccer in grades 10-12; Spanish Club, 10-12; Science Club, 10-12; class officers, 9; AmeriCorps, 12; Dramatics, 10; Powder Puff Football, 11-12; and Bible Club, 11-12.

Her special honors and recognitions include being soccer captain in grades 11 and 12.

Outside of school, Dubensky is the student leader at the First Church of God. Her post-graduation plans include attending college to major in early childhood education. Michael Pascuzzo will be her escort.
