Omer B. Emerick, 84

Omer B. Emerick, 84, went to be with The Lord on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, in Akron Ohio.

Omer was born and raised in Rochester Mills, Pa., and moved to Akron, Ohio, in 1961 to join his brothers in the trucking industry.

He worked as an over the road driver and retired from Jones Motor Co.

Omer was the youngest and last surviving sibling of his immediate family.

Omer was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed bluegrass music, dancing and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Oren B. and Mayme E. (née Colgan) Emerick; siblings Floyd, George, Harmon, Calvin, Katherine and Janet; his nephews, Floyd Jr. and Tim Emerick; and niece Karen Olah.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandra (Robert) Tompkins; grandchildren Raymond F. Barry III “Ray Ray,” Roxanne Tompkins, Robbie (Briana) Tompkins, Bryan Tompkins; and six great-grandchildren.

He also leaves many special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held on Aug. 6, 2014, and interment was at Rose Hill Burial Park in Fairlawn, Ohio.
