Norman R. Pearce, 72

Norman R. Pearce, 72, Luthersburg, died Saturday, November 19, 2011, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 22, 1939, in Cherry Tree, the son of the late Edward L. & Alice E. (Downey) Pearce.

Jan. 26, 1963, he married Ruth (Haag) Pearce, who survives.

Mr. Pearce retired from Penelec as a chief lineman. He also owned and operated the Curwensville Tastee Freez.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and he enjoyed camping.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a son, Ralph E. Pearce of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Marsha J. DePello of Luthersburg; four brothers, Edward Pearce of Waukesan, Ill., David Pearce and wife Iris of Philipsburg, Donald Pearce and wife Rose Angela of Brazil, and Harold Pearce and wife Donna of Tipton; a step-brother, James Cassidy and wife Shirley of Ebensburg; a step-sister, Norma (Casady) Smith and husband James of Carteret, N.J.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Lois Huey Casady Pearce; a step-brother, Harvey Casady; two brothers, Clayton “Bud” Pearce and John Pearce; and two sisters, Grace Smith and Patricia Pendleton.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Newell officiating.

Interment will follow in Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery.
