No serious injuries in Route 119 two-car crash

YOUNG TOWNSHIP — There were no serious injuries reported in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 1:10 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Snyder Hill Road and Route 119 by Wal-Mart, Young Township.

According to Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police, a 2007 Nissan Sentra driven by Ty J. Kelly, 18, Rossiter, was traveling south on Route 119, and a 2000 Subaru Impreza driven by Leonard A. Calhoun, 25, Brockway, was traveling north on Route 119 as Kelly attempted a left turn from Route 119 onto Snyder Hill Road and turned directly into the path of Calhoun's vehicle, which struck Kelly's vehicle head on.

Police said following the crash, Kelly's vehicle spun in a counter-clockwise direction for 39 feet and came to rest on Snyder Hill Road facing northeast.

According to police, Calhoun's vehicle traveled for 30 feet and also came to rest on Snyder Hill Road facing northeast.

Police said neither Kelly nor his two passengers were injured in the crash, while Calhoun suffered a minor injury and was transported by Jefferson County EMS to Punxsutawney Area Hospital for treatment.

According to police, Kelly was cited for a vehicle attempting a left turn into traffic, and both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene by Rebuck's South Side Service.

Police were assisted at the scene by Central Fire Department.
