NEW SIGNALS

April 25, 2012

The end is in sight, as workers from Power Contracting test and activate the new $1.1 million traffic light system on Mahoning Street in downtown Punxsutawney Wednesday and today. In addition to activating the new signals at the four intersections, the video cameras had to be lined up properly in order to identify when traffic is waiting at the intersection for the signal to change. The old traffic signal poles will be removed and sidewalk rehabilitation and reseeding between Jefferson Street and Hampton Avenue will occur where those poles once stood. (Photo by Larry McGuire)
