Miriam Poole, 87

Miriam Poole, 87, Punxsutawney, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Dec. 23, 1924, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Samuel Z. and Nora May (Hersh) Shaub.

She married Warren D. Slaybaugh, who preceded her in death in 1991.

She then married Bruce Poole, who preceded her in death in 2010.

Mrs. Poole was a registered nurse.

She was a member of the Punxsutawney Chapter No. 72, Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Barbara Fox and husband Stanley of Punxsutawney; two brothers, Walter Shaub and Samuel Shaub; three sisters, Nora Mae Kilheffer, Ada Bender and Arlene Giberson; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Irene King, Mabel Yoder, Anna Mary Smith and Charlotte Deck.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

The Order of the Eastern Star will hold a memorial service at the funeral home at 8 p.m. today.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. John Phillips officiating.

The family requests the donations in memory of Mrs. Poole be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
