Miriam Louise Wachob Haag, 85

Miriam Louise Wachob Haag, 85, formerly of Big Run and Groveland, Fla., died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Knickerbocker Villa Senior Care Residence in Clearfield.

She was born on Nov. 23, 1928, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., a daughter of the late Harry and Edith (McClure) Wachob.

On July 9, 1949, she married Harvey E. Haag of Oliveburg, who preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 2000.

Miriam was a beautician, working for many years at Sutter’s Beauty Shop in Punxsutawney, before opening Miriam Haag’s Beauty Shop in Big Run, which she ran for over 30 years.

She was active in the McClure Cemetery Association, VFW Auxiliary, Big Run Alumni Association, and the Big Run Homemakers, and was a tour guide for Fullington Trailways Tours.

She is survived by two children, Harvey Gene and wife Janet of Clearfield and Thomas and wife Linda of Reynoldsville; five grandchildren, Chris Haag (Angie) of Sigel, Seth Haag (Noella) and Brooke Limrick (Craig) of Reynoldsville, Elizabeth Haag-Gardt (Thomas) of Ober-Floersheim, Germany, and Christian Haag of Dayton, Ohio; four great-grandchildren; and brothers Elvin, Ronald and Jerry.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Wachob; and sisters Gertrude Soliday and Loretta Fetterman.

Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Andrew Cressman.

Interment will follow at McClure Cemetery, Big Run.
