Miriam Hickox Blose, 91

Miriam Hickox Blose, 91, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, in Woodridge, Va., after a brief illness.

She was surrounded by her family and passed peacefully.

She was born in Punxsutawney on Oct. 1, 1921, a daughter of the late
Howard and Martha (McGonagle) Hickox.

After graduating from Punxsutawney High School, she married Irwin N. Blose.

She was a homemaker and a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co., and she also worked as an operator for the B & O Railroad.

Miriam was an avid Bridge player and was a member of the Punxsutawney Country Club and a member of the Ladies’ Golf Association.

She was also involved in the Punxsutawney Hospital Auxillary and was a life-long member of the Grace United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irwin N. Blose; and a brother, Paul Hickox.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Mrs. James (Diane) Rice; her son, Keith Blose and wife Kathleen (Curtis); her grandsons, Shawn Rice and wife Nikko, Todd Rice and fiancée Heran Masho, and David Blose; her great-grandchildren, Braden, Cassidy and Halle Rice; a sister-in-law, Agnes Hickox; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, with the Rev. Alfred H. Kimmel officiating.

Interment will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery.

The family suggests that donations in memory of Miriam be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, 61 Hillcrest Dr., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
