Mildred Louise (Priester) Shaffer, 87, Valier, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 27, 1924, in McCalmont Township.

Oct. 10, 1942, she married Clinton Eugene Shaffer, who preceded her in death Jan. 13, 1993.

She previously worked at Sportswear and the Adrian Hospital. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and a former member of the Eastern Star.

Her enjoyments were being at home with her family, cooking and cleaning.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Carole Shaffer and husband Larry Sr. of Cranberry, and Eleanor Shaffer of Valier; two grandchildren, Larry Shaffer and wife Tracey, and Stacy Fritz and husband Kevin; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Bradley Fritz; a sister, Grace (Priester) Brown and husband Robert of North East; and two companions, Missy and Janie.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Priester.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012, with Pastor Maureen Seifried officiating.

Interment will follow at the Oliveburg Cemetery.
