Michael B. Pollock, 88

Michael B. Pollock, 88, of Latrobe, formerly of Punxsutawney and Blairsville, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Latrobe Regional Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Aug. 26, 1923, in Greensburg, a son of the late Michael and Mary (Hanyo) Pollock.

He was married to Lucy E. (Sacco) Pollock, who survives, of Latrobe.

Mr. Pollock was a retired Pennsylvania State Police trooper and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. 

He had been a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in Northern Africa and Egypt as an accomplished trumpet player in the Army band. 

He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW. 

He also played in many local bands, and was a longtime and former member of Ss. Cosmas & Damien Church in Punxsutawney and Ss. Simon & Jude Church in Blairsville.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a daughter, Mary Ellen Raneri and husband Philip J. of Latrobe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Victor Pollock. 

Family and friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. 

A military service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at the funeral home, with American Legion Post 515 and VFW Post 3414.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, O.S.B., as celebrant. 

Interment is to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
