Merle P. Cary, 82

Merle P. Cary, 82, Hemlock Lake, passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at his home.

He was born March 20, 1928, in Rossiter, a son of the late Daniel and Alberta (Pearce) Cary.

He was married to Dolores M. (Hankinson) Cary, who preceded him in death March 16, 2007.

Mr. Cary was a graduate of Glen Campbell High School and served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was retired from the U.S. Pentagon where he worked in U.S. Army Communications.

Surviving relatives include a son, Merle D. Cary and wife Diane of Hemlock Lake; a daughter, Sherry Gresock and husband Mike of Hemlock Lake; a brother, Joe Cary of Arizona; three sisters, Kathy Huey, Alberta Farrell and Linda Johnston, all of Punxsutawney; four grandchildren, Greg Gresock, Holly Gresock, Jeremy Cary and Kasie Hicks; four great-grandchildren, Camryn Cary, Connor Hicks, Jordann Hicks and Brynn Hicks; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Cary; a brother, Fred Cary; and a sister, Louella Gray.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service and interment will follow at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
