Melvin Shepler, 83, of Industry, Pa., passed away early Monday morning, Feb. 18, 2013, with his family at his side.
He was born Oct. 16, 1929, in Henderson Township, Pa., a son of Homer and Leila Pearl Shepler.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during the Korean War in the Atlantic Fleet aboard the USS New Kent PA-217.
He was an electrician with Pittsburgh Tube Mill for 32 years and was a member of Fairview Reformed Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder and youth leader.
He was also a Little League coach and Boy Scout leader.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lee and James; and a sister, Helen.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Gladys Shepler; five sons, Paul Shepler, Louisville, Ky.; George Shepler, Industry; Tim (Angel) Shepler, Ohioville; Scott (Heidi) Shepler, Ohioville, and Charles (Melissa) Shepler, Punxsutawney; three brothers, Doyle Shepler and Ray (Loretta) Shepler, both of Henderson Township, and Lyle (Donna) Shepler, Montgomery, Ala.; two sisters, Marjorie (Vaughn) Miller, Livonia, Mich., and Frances (Larry) Barksdale, Alpine, Ala; twelve grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
