Melvin James Neal, 77

Melvin James Neal, 77, Erie, formerly of Rossiter, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the PA Soldiers & Sailors Home.

He was born June 27, 1935, in Rossiter, a son of the late Carl and Helen Neal.

He was married to his wife of 42 years, Henrietta “Hedy” Neal, who survives.

Mr. Neal was a member of the New Apostolic Church and was employed with Benjamin Coal Co., and then self-employed in excavating prior to retirement.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War, and was past president and life member of the American Legion in Rossiter.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two sons, Daniel Neal and wife Kristy, and Eric Neal and wife Susan; a daughter, Monika Kies; a brother, Milt Neal and wife Reine; close friends, Andy and Marcella Wyant; 10 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012, at the New Apostolic Church, 6005 Perry Highway, Erie.

Interment will be private.
