Max Eugene Shoffner, 86

Max Eugene Shoffner, 86, of Kittanning, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Andover, Ohio.

He was born on July 27, 1926, to John and Florence (Reed) Shoffner, in Timblin, Pa.

Max was co-owner of Shoffner Family Business, where he played an active role in all facets and co-owner of West Franklin Coal Co. with Russ Haller.

He was a member of the Kittanning Joint Water Authority for many years and was one of the founders of the Young Business Men's Association, along with John B. McCue and Steve Krizmanich.

Max was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 244, Scottish rite, Syria shrine, Coudersport Consistory and the Commandery.

He was an Army Veteran of World War II.

Max is survived by two sons, Kurt Shoffner of Kittanning, Pa., and Kent Shoffner and wife Kelly of Charlotte, N.C.; a grandson, Devlin Shoffner of Worthington; and two granddaughters, Regan and Riley Shoffner of Charlotte, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and cousins.

The family will hold memorial services at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc., Rural Valley.
