Matson D. Blose, Jr., 87, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at home.

He was born Dec. 4, 1925, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Matson D. Blose, Sr. and Carrie (Lewis) Blose.

On March 23, 1945, he married Anna Lou Wolfe, who survives.

They had just celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.

He was a member of SS.C.D.

He was a sergeant in the Air Force and served during World War II.

He was the owner of M. Blose and Sons Scrap Yard in Walston, Pa.

He was a third-degree Knight of Columbus, a lifetime member of the Elks, and served on the Planning and Zoning Commission for Punxsutawney.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include four children, Michael Blose and wife Marcia of Punxsutawney, Kathleen (Blose) Clement and husband Dr. Paul of DuBois, Marianne (Blose) Bradley and husband Kevin of Zelienople, and Julie Blose of Punxsutawney; nine grandchildren, Michael, Darius and Olivia Clement, Melissa, Michael and Matt Blose and Ryan and wife Samantha, Lauren and Nathan Bradley; and three great grandchildren, Marcus, Alexa and Kensington Bradley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, M. Nathan Blose; a granddaughter, Annie Clement; a brother, Col. Lewis Blose; and three sisters, Betty Blose, Martha Adams and Patricia Cunningham.

The family will be honoring his life with a visitation service from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2013, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2013, at SS.C.D., with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
