Mary May Emberg, 77

Mary May Emberg, 77, of Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

She was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Mackeyville, Pa., a daughter of the late Orvis and Bertha (Nihart) Barner.

In 1964, she married Donald Emberg. He preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1974.

She previously worked at Invensys in DuBois.

Mary loved her family, being outside gardening, and she also had a tender heart for animals.

She had a friendly, warm spirit and made friends everywhere.

She is survived by two children, John Raymond Barner of DuBois and Holly Ann Emberg of Punxsutawney; and one brother, George Barner.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Ruth Bowmaster.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Al Kimmel.

Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery, Frostburg.

Memorial donations may be made in Mary's memory to the Gateway Humane Society, 1211 Airport Rd., Falls Creek, PA 15840.
