Mary M. Wiant, 88, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville.

She was born May 1, 1922, in Knox Dale, a daughter of the late Joseph B. and Bertha A. (Dinger) Martin.

She was married to Merle Newhouse, who preceded her in death. She then married Frank L. Davis, who also preceded her in death. She then married Arnold Wiant, who also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wiant was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Punxsutawney, and she was a retired store manager, having worked for Artley's, Dora Dale and Fashion Bug in DuBois.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Nancy Newhouse Steinback and husband Richard of Chittenango, N.Y., and Marjorie Newhouse Pridemore and husband Jim of Frederick, Md.; a son, Edward A. Davis and wife Holly of Punxsutawney; a sister, Myrtle Miller and husband Skip of Erie; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Newhouse; a grandson, Andrew Newhouse; two brothers, Barney and Herb Martin; a half-brother, William Martin; and five sisters, Iva Bish, Kay Gilhousen, Vye Pendleton, Marie Shoemaker and Pearl Wolfe.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with Michael White officiating.

Interment will be in Lakelawn Memorial Gardens, Reynoldsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
