Mary L. Peace, 78

Mary L. Peace, 78, of Punxsutawney, formerly of Tionesta, Pa., and Conneaut Lake, Pa., died on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, surrounded by family at her home in Punxsutawney.

She was born on July 6, 1935, in Rossiter, a daughter of the late Clark and Iola (Hayes) Gould.

On Jan. 1, 1955, in Rossiter, she married John “Jay” Peace, who died on June 27, 1998.

She was employed by Alltel Corp in the Customer Service Dept. until retiring in 1996.

After retirement, she and her husband became residents of Tionesta, where they spent most of their time at their camp until his death, after which she became a seasonal resident of Tionesta, where she spent the summer months.

She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and playing cards in various card clubs.

Surviving are a daughter, Debra K. Ellenberger and husband John of Tionesta; two grandchildren, Erik and Lisa Ellenberger; five great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Harley, Gage, Kraven and Damien Ellenberger …and a third set of twins due in January, Summer and Aspen Ellenberger.

Mary is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Parker and husband Robert of Franklin, Tenn.; and Nora Drummond and husband William of Punxsutawney; a sister in-law, Juanita Yohe of Big Run; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Skyler Ellenberger; and a sister, Lois Gould.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at McClure Cemetery in Big Run, with the Rev. Paul Thompson, pastor of the Steffy United Methodist Church of Rossiter, officiating.
