Mary Jane Miller, 68

Mary Jane Miller, 68, Brookville, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

She was born Dec. 11, 1943 in Tonawanda, N.Y., a daughter of the late Marcel Russell and Hilda Madelyn (Lewis) Wazelle.

May 25, 1974, she married the love of her life, Wayne Arthur Miller, who preceded her in death Oct. 1, 2009.

Mrs. Miller was a member of the Nazerene Church in Anita, as well as a member of the Gentian Chapter No. 23 of the Eastern Star in Wyoming.

She and her husband lived most of their lives in Wyoming, where they enjoyed riding horses, backpacking, square dancing, bowling and Black Powder Rendezvous.

Mrs. Miller worked for Wyoming Highway Department for 16-and-a-half years.

She and her husband moved back to Brookville in 1994 to care for her parents. She also assisted in raising her nephew, Marcel Wazelle, and her niece, Patricia (Wazelle) McKinney.

Mr. and Mrs. Miller opened their hearts and home over the years making many friends across the country.

Mrs. Miller helped anyone in need, never asking for anything in return.

She was an avid fan of Elvis and had a large collection of memorabilia.

Surviving relatives include Dorinda K. Smith and husband Glen of Gillette, Wyo., whom she considered to be like a daughter; two sisters, Ruth Brown of DuBois, and Connie Jean Miller of West Minster, Md.; two brothers, Donald Wazelle and wife Dorothy of Big Run, and Ray Wazelle and wife Tanya of Knox Dale; four grandchildren, Glen Jr., C’era, Echo and Saunda; and her dog Bingy, whom she loved and was very concerned for also.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, officiated by Jim Lantz.

Interment will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery.
