Mary F. Wright, 100, of Knox Dale, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at her home.

Born Dec. 28, 1912, in Indiana County, a daughter of the late Norman and Sarah Ann (Little) Ashbaugh.

She was the first born of 10 children, and the last surviving member of her immediate family.

On Dec. 31, 1929, she married William G. Wright. He preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1993.

She attended Center Hill Presbyterian Community Church in Knox Dale.
Mrs. Wright and her husband operated two rest homes in the Punxsutawney and Marchand area many years ago.

She also worked as a nurses aid at the Jefferson Manor.

Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and she really enjoyed having company.

She was a spirited, independent woman who lived on her own right to the end of her life.

She enjoyed working outside and planting flowers.

Mary is survived by five sons, Thomas Wright and wife Dorothy of Brookville, Robert Wright and wife Bea of Brookville, Kenneth Wright and wife Gloria of Reynoldsville, Donald Wright and wife

Mary of Brookville, and James Wright and wife Shelly of Knox Dale; eleven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son; a son, Jackie Wright; seven sisters, Bertha Weaver, Ethel Holman, Alma, Layuna Mikesell, Katherine Haney, Irene Ashbaugh, and Nola Viola Johnston; two brothers, Sylvester Norman Ashbaugh and Mabon Ashbaugh; and one grandson, Kenny Wright.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2013, at the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home Inc. in Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Harold Haight.

Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.
