Mary C. Painter, 83

Mary C. Painter, 83, Punxsutawney, died Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Oct. 21, 1930, in Starford, Pa., a daughter of the late Carl F. and Scharlotte (Tucker) Stamler.

On Aug. 31, 1949, she married Theodore Wayne Painter in Maryland. He preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 2004.

She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church of Rossiter.

She enjoyed crocheting, church, church meetings, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

Surviving relatives include a son, Eugene W. Painter and wife Martha of Smithport, Pa.; a daughter, Deborah J. McAfoos and husband William of Punxsutawney; four grandchildren, Kenneth W. Painter and wife Shannon, Tammy J. Painter and boyfriend Justin, Melanie C. McAfoos and fiancé Kyle Ashley, and Tracey R. McAfoos and boyfriend Richard Ferrara; two great-grandchildren, Mya Painter and Devin Painter; two sisters, Dorothy Vendette of Rossiter, and Phyllis Rugh of Valier; and a brother, Herbert Stamler and wife Alvera of Ohio.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad M. Painter; two brothers, Eugene C. Stamler and Wilbur Stamler; and three sisters, Lois Betty Stamler, Henrietta S. Pennington and Glenna Mae DePasquale.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donald Brauer officiating.

Interment will be at Pearce Cemetery, Rossiter.

Memorial donations may be made, in Mrs. Painter’s memory, to the Calvary United Methodist Church in Rossiter.
