Mary B. Qualey, 91

Mary B. Qualey, 91, Smicksburg, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Nov. 6, 1920, in Smicksburg, a daughter of the late Harry B. and Irene Bertha (Simpson) Van Horn.

She married Gordon C. Brown in 1939, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1970.

She then married William J. Qualey, in 1975, and he also preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 2004.

She was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Moose Club.

Surviving relatives include a son, Harry A. Brown of Wooster, Ohio; a daughter, Barbara L. Brown of Greenville, Pa.; a brother, Blaine Van Horn and wife Ruth of Smicksburg; a sister, Twila M. Rupert of Shelocta; five grandchildren, Kim, Ronda, Johnny and Joey Meyer and Gary Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by six brothers, John, Ralph, Walter, Merle, Clair and Bennett Van Horn; and a sister, Helen Bowser.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at the funeral home with Blain Van Horn Jr. officiating.

Interment will be at Gilgal Cemetery.
