Martha Lucille “Lucy” Stephanic, 82

Martha Lucille “Lucy” Stephanic, 82, of Rochester Mills, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2014, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Feb. 13, 1932, in Jackson Township, a daughter of the late Raymond U. and Violet M. Schrack.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Stephanic, who passed away in 1997; a brother, Raymond G. Schrack; and sisters Elizabeth Stephens and Evelyn “Peep” Clouser.

She is survived by sisters Ruth Ellen (Bob) Turnbull of Rochester Mills and Harriet Faye (Bob) Sprankle of Punxsutawney; special friend and caregiver Mary Lou Bailey; and several nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

A graduate of the Indiana Hospital School of Nursing, she was a retired LPN for Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was a great cook and was the former owner/operator of the former Penn View Restaurant near Blairsville.

She loved caring for her animals, loved her family and was always at the ready to assist in trips or gatherings.

A member of the Valley Grace Brethren Church in Armagh, she had been recently attending the Calvary Bible Church in Glen Campbell.

At Lucy’s request, there will be no viewing.

A private graveside service will be held by her family with the Rev. John Traxler officiating.

Interment will be at Pike Brethren Cemetery in Mundy’s Corner.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lucy’s memory to the Calvary Bible Church, 2712 Pinevale Rd., Glen Campbell, PA 15771.

Arrangements are in the care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo.
