Marsha J. Steele, 66, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at home with her family.

She was born Nov. 27, 1946, in East Brady, a daughter of the late Ralph and Doretha (Hillwig) Shelly.

On June 20, 1964, she married Melvin Dean Steele, who preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 2012.

Marsha worked in the deli at County Market, and she had previously worked at Mahoning Furnace.

She enjoyed riding horses, gardening and sewing.

Surviving relatives include four children, Susanne Peterson of Punxsutawney, Chester Steele and wife Kim of Punxsutawney, and Evan Steele, and Dustin Steele of New Kensington; five grandchildren, Aiden and Zoe Peterson, Tiffany and Charlie Steele, and Jessica Hartzell.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Shelly; and a sister, Jackie Craft.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Kevin Brooks.

Interment will follow at Mahoning Cemetery, Indiana County.
