Marjorie Dickson Staikides, 80, West Chester, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at Paoli Memorial Hospital.
She was born in New Castle, a daughter of William Campbell and Isabel C. (Cutler) Dickson.
Mrs. Staikides grew up in Punxsutawney and attended Grove City College. She was the wife of the late John James Staikides, also of Punxsutawney, who was a respected artist and art teacher in the Kennett Consolidated School District.
After marrying, the couple moved to southern Chester County, where they happily raised their family together.
Mrs. Staikides was a passionate learner who was always ready for a good discussion about anything. She particularly enjoyed classical music, art, cooking, interior decorating and caring for animals. Most of all, she cherished her family and friends.
She will be remembered as a devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Even as life presented her with challenges, she maintained her sense of humor and never failed to reach out to others.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Dana Dickson Staikides, and husband Steve Gaffin and their son Spencer of Seattle, Wash., Tracy Staikides Sammarone and husband Mark and their daughter Chelsea, of West Chester, and Meg Staikides Leeds and husband Daniel of Gaithersburg, Md.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Reid Dickson.
Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
