Marjorie C. Latta, 83

Marjorie C. Latta, 83, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born September 23, 1928, in Hazen, a daughter of the late Reverend Ralph and Viona (Bushley) Brooks.

Jan. 24, 1955, she married Norman Latta who preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 1991.

She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ and was also a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary of Big Run.

She was a cook at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital and retired from there after 18 years of service.

Surviving relatives include five sons, Brian Latta and wife Katrina, Richard Latta, William Latta and wife Helen, Gail Latta and wife Lois, and Gregg Latta and wife Patricia, all of Punxsutawney; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Elaine Zolner; and a brother, Leslie Brooks.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Lewis Latta; and four brothers, Russell, Albert, Cecil and Chester Brooks.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney, with the Rev. Barry Fillman officiating.

Interment will be at McClure Cemetery, Big Run.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Latta’s memory to the donor’s choice.
