Marion Center Bank celebrates Community Bank Month with donation to Cross Town
PUNXSUTAWNEY — With the economy taking its toll on Americans everywhere — including locally — the Punxsutawney Branch of Marion Center Bank took a step toward helping the problem on Monday with a donation to the Cross Town Ministry Food Pantry, one of the biggest food banks in the
Clay Snyder, Marion Center Bank Punxsy Branch manager, said that
they've been contributing to Cross Town and the St. Vincent DePaul Society Food Bank at SS.C.D. on an annual basis.
Snyder said that April is Community Bank Month, and each branch is picking an organization in its area to support.
"I got together with the rest of the Punxsy Branch employees, and we chose Cross Town Ministry's Food Pantry," Snyder said, adding that instead of giving something to the employees and their customers, Marion Center Bank is giving the food pantry a monetary donation.
"We're giving Cross Town the monetary donation that we give them each year," he said. "We're also giving them another amount that the bank contributed."
Snyder said the Punxsy Branch is also asking its customers and employees to bring non-perishable food items to the Punxsy Branch to donate.
"If they want to donate money, they can drop off checks at Marion Center Bank in Punxsutawney at 514 West Mahoning St., and the checks should be made out to Cross Town Ministry Food Pantry," Snyder said.
