Marilyn Louise (Yeaney) Himes, 72

Marilyn Louise (Yeaney) Himes, 72, Huntingdon, Oneida Township, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at home, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Mrs. Himes was born in Punxsutawney, a daughter of Howard W. and Helen M. (Kromer) Yeaney.

She was united in marriage to Peter G. Himes on April 19, 1957, at the Ringgold United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gorman officiating.

Her husband preceded her in death on April 5, 2012, after 55 years of marriage.

She attended Punxsutawney Area High School.

Mrs. Himes attended the 12th Street United Methodist Church in Huntingdon, where she participated in many functions.

She retired from the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntington in 1995, after 27 years of service as an environmental aide.

Marilyn was also actively involved in the Huntingdon Senior Center and the Red Hat Society. She was known for her amateur photography and had taken pictures at events and family gatherings for decades all across the county.

In recent years, she acted as the primary caregiver for her late husband, Pete Himes.

She enjoyed traveling, flowers, cooking, her cat Princess and time with
family. Another of her activities was sending warm thoughts and prayers through cards to loved ones.

During her last year, Marilyn enjoyed the company and care of her friend and caregiver, Cindy Lighter. She will be remembered by her family for her kind and loving spirit.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Barbara (Himes) Gongloff and
husband Don of James Creek, Pa., and Brenda (Himes) Long and husband Kyle of Huntingdon, Pa.; a son, Bradley Himes and wife Maureen of Pennfield, N.Y.; grandchildren Candace (Gongloff) Brumbaugh and husband Robert of James Creek, Joseph Gongloff of Shirleysburg, Katelyn Long of Huntingdon and Connor and Lindsay Himes of Pennfield, N.Y.; two great-grandchildren, Alaina and Carley Brumbaugh of James Creek; a sister, Debra Porter of Punxsutawney; a brother, Howard Yeaney and wife Donna of Reynoldsville; and a brother-in-law, Laird Powell of Porter.

She is also survived by brothers-in-law Wayne Himes and wife Joy, Leroy Himes and wife Julia and Clair Himes and wife Loretta; and a sister-in-law, Eva Himes Kaylor and husband Richard.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by siblings Ester Jane (Yeaney) Powell, Robert Yeaney and William Yeaney.

Family and friends will be received at the Cutright Funeral Homes — Smithfield Chapel, 313 Fairgrounds Rd., Huntington, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013, and from 10 a.m. until the service on Monday, May 27, 2103.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27, 2013, at the funeral home with the Rev. Georgetta "Cookie" Hartley officiating.

Interment will be at Donation Cemetery, Huntingdon.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to the 12th Street United Methodist Church, 12th and Mifflin streets, Huntingdon, PA 16652; the Huntingdon Humane Society, 11371 Schoolhouse Hollow Road, Huntingdon, PA 16652; or to Hospice-Home Nursing Agency, 9492 William Penn Highway, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
