Margaret (Peg) Laura Waggett, 90

Margaret (Peg) Laura Waggett, 90, widow of Earl H. Waggett, died March 2, 2011, at Hospice Care Center, St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Ky.

Born in Hamilton, Pa., June 1, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Hamilton and Lilian Blose Stear.

She lived in Sharon, Pa.; Akron, Ohio; Hamilton, Pa.; and Seminole, Fla., prior to moving to Lexington, Ky., to be near her daughter, Sandra W. Miller.

She was a member of Lexington's Trinity Hill United Methodist Church and its Live Wires Senior Ministry; Punxsutawney, Pa., chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Akron, Ohio, Anna Dean Chapter No. 595 Order of the Eastern Star; and Akron, Ohio, social Order of the Beauceant No. 26.

A graduate of DuBois (Pa.) Business College, she worked at various times as a secretary, salesperson and bank teller.

She enjoyed volunteering at the United Service Organizations (USO) during World War II; in later years at The Attic, Morton Plant Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop in Clearwater, Fla.; and more recently at Sayre Christian Village, Lexington, where she lived. She was the first Worthy Matron of the Lakes Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Akron, Ohio, and at various times held leadership roles in the Social Order of the Beauceant, Parent Teachers Association, and church groups/governance.

Her favorite pastimes were attending programs and doing crafts, needlework and word search puzzles.

Her brothers Seth "Sonny" and Max W. Stear, and a niece, Joy Stear Freeman, preceded her in death.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by sisters-in-law Judy Stear, Judy Bloom and Anna Sugden; a brother-in-law, Bob Sugden; and 19 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 6, at 1 p.m. with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. at Deeley Funeral Home, 33 Hillcrest Drive, Punxsutawney, Pa.

Burial will be private.
