Margaret “Marge” (Bell) Marshall, 86

Margaret “Marge” (Bell) Marshall, 86, Mahaffey, formerly of Indiana County, passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Kerrmoor, a daughter of the late Leslie W. and Katherine (Dotts) Bell.

In 1947, she married Jack L. Marshall, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Marshall was an IUP Graduate of the nursing program and served during World War II as a Navy WAVE.

She owned and operated Marge’s Restaurant in Burnside for over 25 years.

Mrs. Marshall was an avid bowler, winning many trophies; an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; and she attended the Mahaffey Brethren Church.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Kay Eslinger and husband Steven of State College, and Grace McCracken and husband Tom of Mahaffey; five grandchildren, Jennifer McCracken-Lenz and husband Robert, Timothy McCracken, Jessica McCracken, Diana Marshall and Jack Marshall; a great-grandchild, Adrianna McCracken; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Marshall of Mahaffey; and a niece.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John L. Marshall; and two brothers, Grier Bell and Wendell Bell.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at the Waldron Funeral Home, Mahaffey.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Turner officiating.

Interment will be held in Christ The King St. Barbara Cemetery, Brisbin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Marshall’s name to the Mahaffey Fire Company or the Mahaffey Brethren Church.
