Man shoots bartender, kills self in Brockport incident
HORTON TWP. — A 31-year-old Brockway man opened fire around midnight Thursday outside a Brockport bar before turning the gun on himself.
According to the police report, Eric Carlson, 31, of Brockway became upset with a 20-year-old female bartender at the Brockport Army & Navy Club when she attempted to close the bar. An argument reportedly started between the bartender and Carlson.
The bartender, whose name has not yet been released, attempted to get Carlson to leave the bar, and while he was standing near the open doorway, Carlson reportedly shot the bartender multiple times with a pistol.
While the bartender was lying on the porch of the club, Carlson reportedly shot himself, according to Ridgway-based Pennsylvania State Police.
The unidentified bartender from Brockport was flown to UPMC Altoona for treatment of her critical injuries. Her current condition has not been released.
Carlson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Elk County Coroner.
An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
PSP-Ridgway also reported investigating a theft from a motor vehicle which occurred sometime between 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and 11:50 p.m., as a firearm was stolen out of a car belonging to a known 57-year-old Brockway man. This is reportedly the firearm that was recovered at the shooting scene.
